A VISIT TO: IBM RESEARCH AFRICA, ADANIAN LAB, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE & AFRICA BLOCKCHAIN CENTRE – NAIROBI, KENYA ON 13th JUNE 2022

A visit to AI labs and research centers in Nairobi, Kenya.

On the 13th of June, 2022; two team members of the AI4D Africa’s Anglophone Multidisciplinary Research Lab, Prof. Shubi Kaijage (Co-Principal Investigator) and Dr. Neema Mduma (Assistant Coordinator for Environmental Conservation and Agriculture) visited several laboratories in Nairobi, Kenya, namely, IBM Research Africa, Adanian Lab, Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence (AiCE) and Africa Blockchain Centre (ABC)

This visit aimed to share experience in terms of research, innovation, training, lab settings, collaboration and to discuss several agendas on implementing the AI ecosystem in Africa. 

The AI4D Research Lab team met with Ms. Charity Wayua (Senior Research Manager) and Mr. John Matogo- Global University Programs Leader for Africa at the IBM Research Africa office, which is located at the Campus of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa at the Karen Campus. 

Thereafter, the team members met staff members of the Adanian Lab (Mr. Kenneth Agina- Business Development Manager, Mr. Favour Ruhiu- Lab Manager and Mr. Essa Mohamedali- Community, Business Development Manager at Adanian Labs Tanzania), AiCE (Ms. Natasha Ochiel - Co-Founder, Head of Business) and ABC (Ms. Alice Anangi and Mr Morice Mutonya- Head of Training and BaaS).
